Sequels

Yesterday, I wasted my first hour on Facebook. I now know that I'm a real teenager.

 Marmalade made green cupcakes.

My little brother is busy destroying balloons from my little sister's birthday party.

My mum started her new job today so she's even more stressed than usual.

But this is what I really wanted to say: I have more story ideas than I have stories. I keep thinking of new characters, or concepts, and before I know it, all my stories have sequels... Most of them are originally meant to be one-offs, but the sequels are just too awesome to ignore! And then the first story gets forgotten because it seems boring compared to the sequel.

Speaking of boring... I always talk about stories on this blog, don't I?

Anyway, I've invented a sequel character who I like a lot. He's a teenage mad scientist. He lives in his workshop where he invents steam- and clockwork-powered stuff. He has a pet weasel. (Why not?) He often walks around with the weasel around his neck, like a living scarf. He likes to eat ice cream and his favourite place is Edinburgh. His social skills are truly terrible. He may be autistic, like my brother and I - he has some of the same problems. He also has a motorbike; a huge, loud one which he built himself. But he doesn't always use it. Sometimes when he goes off on the bizarre, secretive night-time missions which only he knows about, he travels over the rooftops. The unplanned sequel starts with him crashing through the main character's roof. (She lives in a tumbledown barn.)

So, there's another character profile for you. Hope you like it.

My dog

It's my dog's birthday today. We took him for a walk and made a cake, but dogs can't eat cake, so we ate it because we are so helpful and considerate. Also we got him a toy to shred, because he loves to shred things.
Aren't dogs' lives uncomplicated? Eat, sleep, walk, shred things.

The mutant flower

Guess what? The smallest sweet pea, the weird one, has stopped trying to grow sideways and has now grown two heads! Well, not heads, but you know what I mean. I always knew that one was an anomaly.

My mum got the job. She starts the Monday after next.

Marmalade's job interview went amazingly well. I did get a minute-by-minute description.

I taught SP#1 to play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star on the keyboard. That's the first tune I ever learned, and now she plays it non-stop. . . sigh. . . I guess I should have anticipated that.

STRESS

 I have a new laptop.

My grandparents are coming to stay in about fifteen minutes. They'll be here for the weekend. And so my mum has been stressing out about getting the house tidy - she has four kids, how tidy does she expect it to be? Right now she's stressing out about cooking 'cause my grandma's a vegetarian. And my brother is stressing her out more wanting to go on her computer.

I've told you about how she stresses about the Small Peoples' School, and now she's been offered a part-time job there, so she can get paid for stressing out, so that's good.

Speaking of part-time jobs, Marmalade's had an interview for one today, and when something stressful happens to her, she generally sits down and talks and talks and talks and talks talks and talks and talks and talks about every little detail of it. So I can expect a minute-by-minute description of the interview pretty soon.

My sweet peas are doing very well, except the smallest one, which is trying to grow sideways.

Growing sweet peas

I like growing sweet peas. I planted them a couple of weeks ago as seeds out of a packet, and put them in an 'incubator', which is under a lamp so they get lots of "sunlight". My mum's growing sunflower seedlings for the Small Peoples' school, so the incubator's always ready if I need it. I planted out four sweet peas yesterday, kneeling on the kitchen floor and spilling compost, and then two more today. One's still too small to plant.
When people tell you that gardening is theraputic - well, they're right.

Provided you don't have to actually do it outside. I'm growing mine on my windowsill.

Sunday 10 February 2013

I'm depressed again today, and I don't know what to do. I have to pretend to be doing homework all the time!

And I'm running for the school council (my tutor nominated me) and I'm revising for tests again and I'm growing sweet peas. The last item is the only one I have no complaints about.

Celebrations!

You won't believe this, but I'm actually writing this on a laptop, with the laptop on my lap, and it hasn't crashed for at least three minutes.

I've got The Fray in my headphones. Small Person #1 is screeching on her trumpet. Small Person #2 is looking at Lego on the internet. (He's a 6-year-old addict.) All back to normal.

Tomorrow I'm going to London to see We Will Rock You. It's a school trip for people who are talented at music - I'm not talented but I do better than the other people in my class because I'm one of about three people who can actually be bothered to try. Taylor's the same (you should hear her trying to sing :D. No offence, Taylor) and she keeps asking me what I'm going to wear.

So that's great cause I love London, but it means I have to finish my Geography essay today.

This is letting me post photos again so, in celebration, I shall give you this one of a sulking tortoise. I took it two or three years ago; it's quite funny.

Tuesday 5 February 2013

My dad put the laptop together again, and it still doesn't work! It doesn't switch on at all. It's like he unplugged all the wires and then reconnected everything except the on button.

I'm on my mum's computer again, this time doing a French assignment, but she's out taking Small Person #1 to Brownies.

You know, Taylor read every single post of this blog last night. All of them. I mean, there are about fifty of them! And the first ones ever are really rubbish. Hey, Taylor, did you work out all the nicknames?

I got my biology paper back today, and not only did I get an A*, I also got back my drawing of Hyacinth that I did on page 3.

Last night Maramlade was drafting her CV and my mum said not to disturb her, so I sat doing my family tree with Marmalade occasionally bouncing ideas off me or asking a question about grammar and what she should wear to the job interview. See, I was being really helpful!

I drew loads of my story characters today, and I'll scan them in if the laptop ever starts working again. My dad wants to buy me a new one, a small palm-top type thing so I can write stories, but my mum says it's "silly money".

I'm really hungry. SP#2 has got her friend round so I decided to eat later cause I couldn't stand any of the friend's babbling conversation.

And I have too much homework.

I guess it's time to actually finish the French, not just pretend to.

Honey nut cornflakes

Taylor said she would read this tonight. Hi, Taylor, if you're out there.

I was depressed today - it all started with the honey nut cornflakes. It sounds kind of ridiculous, because it was. I'm slightly autistic and one of the things I do is that I have to have Wheatabix for breakfast. Because I have younger siblings there's usually some sort of sweet cereal - you know, Coco Pops, sugar puffs - which I have on top of my Wheatabix. Today, there was nothing but honey nut cornflakes. I hate honey nut cornflakes! Also, I'm allergic to nuts! So I had to resort to an old recipe of mine, which is Wheatabix, rice crispies, Shreddies and raisins. The taste isn't up to much and the texture is basically mush, but it's very good for you and it's OK if you have enough raisins. If nothing else, it's better than honey nut cornflakes.

Then I got accused of stealing my sister's trousers, and why would I want trousers that are a foot too long for me? (She has long legs).

Also the laptop broke so I couldn't blog, write stories, do my family tree, or anything. I'm doing this o my mum's computer which she let me use because my geography essay's due in four days and the laptop is actually spilling its intestines out on my dad's desk. (It's useful to have a techie in the family).

Then in English the teacher announced a mistake I'd made in front of the whole class.

Then in maths, I'd got an A on the last three papers and on this one I got a C. =(

But it all started with the honey nut cornflakes.

I hope I haven't wasted too much of your time with this entirely pointless post about breakfast cereal.

Penny trails in the dark

Don't go on a penny trail in the dark either. That's when you flip a coin at every junction to see whether you turn left or right. It sounds fun but it's very, very boring.
